02

Walkthrough

  1. 1
    Write notation first

    At least k: P(X≥k); more than k: P(X>k); fewer than k: P(X<k).

  2. 2
    Use complement

    P(X≥k)=1−P(X≤k−1); P(X>k)=1−P(X≤k); P(X<k)=P(X≤k−1).

  3. 3
    Between

    For a≤X≤b use binomcdf(n,p,b)−binomcdf(n,p,a−1).

Worked example

X~B(20,0.4). Find P(X≥8).

AnswerP(X≥8)≈0.584.
